He Did Us Proud....Koyo Bala's Drum Cover a must read to all....it might save your life

My first initial reaction to this cover was not a pleasant one , having always pledged honesty to this blog .I am going to say i was part of the #HaterClub and boy when I hit the punch lines roll can I roll. I guess my reaction had been fuelled by the negative side-eyes I had received in the supermarket, Pick 'n Pays clearly being one of the most "not-for-faggats" stores I know. The till cashier whom was ringing my stuff up had a sudden smirk in her face when she rang this issue up(lord knows at this point I was regretting my perfectly sculpted “smokey eye” and Bobbi Brown matte skin)  with the ever so loud and trashy 3sum member Koyo Bala ,declaring his demon to the whole world .

See I’m all for people’s privacy and celebrities are also people hence why if they choose to be silent about it we must accept their decisions ,as sad as it is the gloomy reality is that we are a society still plagued by hypocrisy ,stigma , judgements **ala Pick'n Pay cashier** .See it is ok when they choose not to subject themselves to such scrutiny as declaring  your status is a huge risk that may not even pay off nor set you free. But having said all of that we as society must applaud those who do have the courage to fight on as unfortunately Aids is still a pandemic that still needs much talking about. As the shocking stats seem to climb every year, when we still are named as one of the leading HIV/Aids infected country then still we are not doing enough ,still we are not engaging in conversation about it enough....Hence where these warriors come in (whom are aptly named Activists) as they bring about attention to this pandemic .Koyo being a celebrity in his own right surely will make us talk about it even more , it’s a bitter sad coin that is double headed as on the one side  it promotes the township stereotype that gay people are Aids Carriers. But maybe that is the case (i am not about to argue that gay men are or not promiscuous... ) as I was thoroughly disappointed with the gay media platforms and writers including gay bloggers who sought to turn this whole beautiful act into one of mockery even linking celebrity gay brigade names like Somizi Mhlongo current frail health to it.

My take is this ...as suspicious as it is that the he come-out with his status when he is trying to launch a reality show and getting stations to pick it up, we must still see beyond that as Koyo's act may have not been entirely of  Mother Theresa standards but it sure did get us talking ,be it for one day or for one lunch session .The effects seem to have worked.
**really could have done with out the Blonde effect and airbrushing but each to his own**
