Monday Woman Crushes...The fight to create a culture of celebrating "Woman" in all her glory!

I never got the idea of why women choose to dedicate such an important day that dictates the whole trajectory of your week such as Monday to men. I consciously use the word "dictates" to engage the "power" of this seemingly innocent choice...Monday for me has always been the quintessential day that will engage where/what my week's purpose will be, so naturally the idea of this day being dedicated to senseless crushes and lustful desires of men has always been disturbing to say the least.Like does the yummy juicy sperm giving specimen count so much in your existence that you wake up aiming to start your weeks which inevitably account your entire life with.

Enough of my guilt-inducing rant,I have decided to give mention to some of the women that are doing magical things in the dark and lighting our minds on fire .Some of you maybe familiar with them alot not, but to me these great minds that inhabit the great female body are slowly curating the minds, conversations and attitudes of our society!

My first ever Monday Woman Crush has to be Milisuthando Bongela an award-winning journalist and editor of the Mail and Guardian Newspaper Arts Section.See I first got introduced to Milisuthando's body of work through her now infamous blog MissMilliB. It is through the very personal thoughts and epiphanies that she posted through her blog. Then later on her columns in leading publications such as The City Press ,that validated the conversations I was having with myself regarding perplexing issues of identity that transected with racism, classism, sexism and elitism.See I needed a sanctifying voice to tell me that I was not going crazy at the tender age of 19 more so that these were actual issues that maybe my peers were not caressed by or worse choose to not entertain. But they were real and valid! It is through her that I decided to not let my voice or influence be cradled with an unauthentic American/European disposition. It is through her writing that I made a choice for two years to read nothing but African literature that not only spoke of our tragedies but of our victories, dreams and love stories!

Her career reads as "In 2010 she won the Sanlam Fashion Journalism Award for breaking the story of the Smarteez in Elle Magazine and a year later, opened popular local designer clothing store Mememe in Johannesburg, with business partner Doreen Southwood. In 2011, she started consulting to Woolworths on fashion and lifestyle trends in Johannesburg and continues to do so. Her fashion and culture blog www.missmillib.co.za has seen her do collaborative work with local and international publications including Dazed and Confused, Colours and W Magazine. She wrote a weekly social commentary column in the Mail and Guardian between 2010 and 2012 and currently writes a similar type of column for local weekly newspaper, City Press. Mili is currently a member of The Group, a collective of creative entrepreneurs who run a virtual agency that provides branding solutions to various clients. In 2014, as part of a content drive for her blog, she plans to release a series of short films that delve into the myriad socio-political meanings of being a modern urban African, as well as a web series about a single woman who struggles to find love in the time of the ‘’like’’ button. Having created a wide-ranging vocational framework, her ability to adapt her skill to any creative endeavor, keeps her extremely active. Mili was featured in CNN’s Quest Means Business series ‘’The Millenials’’, where for six months, CNN followed her career progress. In September 2012, she was interviewed by Richard Quest in London as the series came to an end." ( Source LinkedIn Profile) .So here goes my first ever #MondayWomanCrush
