So this blog piece is just simply way overdue for many reasons. But it rather not being about me (yes 2012 shall not see the end of my “Self Love Affair”) but more of her ....I’m sure you all wondering who is this her I so proudly speak off .Its none other than one of my close besties who is doing exceptionally here and abroad in the music fraternity. Born Latoya Buthelezi in KwaZulu-Natal this home grown talent is as real as a sip of umqombothi. But our friendship which was sparked by sheer admiration of each other on varsity soil so us grow a friendship that was beyond the depths of our understanding or comprehension .Which could be one of the reasons why i dragged my feet in doing this review as I truly was afraid I was not going to do the craft i so marvel justice as it would have been clouded by my adamant need to cherish, respect and protect her regardless of having been introduced to her sound genius in its studio demo conception days having been there for some of her first performances amidst a group of rowdy friends that protected each other like crazy .I guess even she would tell you of the “Protect” word that I use to speak of constantly. But all that venting aside “Toi DeLazy” as she is now affectionately known throughout the music fraternity has burst out the scene to become South African music next “it” sensation and it’s no wonder her first single “pump it on” is on high rotation on all dominant national radio stations even heading up MTV’s “Top Five Ladies Of The Moment” she is proving that pop really can sell in South Africa .Having heard one of my favourite tracks “With You” a year or two back which she wrote for one of my favourite people in the world one can’t help but fall in love with the simplicity that is embedded in the genuinely in her lyrics of the songs she scribes down. I may be a close friend of this talent which some may argue can cloud my judgement but she truly has revitalised and re-energised the South African talent field .No Arguments about she was destined for this, as through it all she never lost her tune and what her sound was about ....as for the rest it shall become history and I’m thankful that I have been chosen to travel and have met such a gem amply named TOI DELAZY!
